The jungle path at the start of the Campuhan Ridge Walk in Ubud

The Perfect 3-Day Ubud Itinerary

Three days that cover the town, the countryside and one big adventure — with time left to slow down.

Three days is the sweet spot for a first visit to Ubud. This plan keeps the town for the first day, when you are still adjusting, puts the countryside on day two with an early start to beat the crowds, and leaves day three for either the Mount Batur sunrise or a gentler adventure.

Timings are a guide: traffic, ceremonies and weather all affect Bali days. Swap days two and three if the weather forecast suggests it.

Day 1

Ubud town: forest, palace and dance

Everything today is walkable from the centre.

Start at Pura Gunung Lebah and walk the ridge before the heat, then have breakfast at a café in Bangkiang Sidem.

  2. Late morning

An hour among the temples and macaques. Leave food, sunglasses and loose items behind.

  3. Afternoon

Ubud itinerary FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Is three days enough for Ubud?

Yes for the main highlights. With four or five days you can add Jatiluwih, more waterfalls, workshops and simply relax.

Should I do Mount Batur on the first or last day?

Not on your first day — jet lag and a 2 a.m. start do not mix. Day three works well, with a relaxed afternoon afterwards.

Can I do this itinerary without a tour?

Day one, yes. For days two and three you need transport: a driver, a tour or a well-planned mix of app rides.
