Viewing temples is an essential element of ones visit to Bali. They are stunning architectural works that are a site of many cultural celebrations and ceremonies. On the photo: Uluwatu temple build on a cliff.

Discovering natural sights, sometimes even by driving around or walking is an attraction in itself. Bali is full of river gorges, rice terraces and Volcanoes. The latter are kept sacred and believed to be the "seats of the Gods".

Another exquisite and highly recommended temple in Bali is the Water Temple (Danau Bratan). Both the water temple and the surronding lake offer plenty of great hiking opportunities.
When people think of Bali they often imagine a tropical paradise island with white sandy beaches. Surprisingly enough, beaches may be the least interesting thing that Bali has to offer. It is the traditions and exotic culture that sets Bali aside from all other tropical islands.
