Dry season

The dry season runs from the months of April to October, and is distinguished by lower humidity, cooler temperatures, greater visibility, and lots of sun. While the occasional rain shower will roll through, the rain events tend to be shorter than in the rainy season. Daily temperatures will rise to a high of 30 C (86 F), and drop to 23 C (73 F) at night. From a weather point of view, this is the best time to visit Ubud.

Rainy season

Typically occurs between the months of October and April, with the most rain in December and January. Along with increased rain, the temperature and humidity rise as well, with an average high around 32 C (90 F), and nightly lows around 25 C (77 F). The increased humidity will raise the heat index, making it feel hotter, but the rain showers will of course cool things down.

The rain events will typically last between one and two hours, but when it rains in Ubud, it pours. Expect flooded streets and walkways, and always keep a rain jacket on you just in case a downpour catches you. If you decide to visit Ubud during the rainy season, your trip will not be a wash out. It typically rains for only a few hours a day, replaced by sun and clear skies. The rainy season is also the low season for tourist, so prices for nearly everything are discounted.

Sun

The sun in Bali is hot, and faire-skinned people should take precautions around its harmful rays. The sun is particularly dangerous in the months of October-November and April-May, as it crosses directly overhead. Sunscreen is expensive, so be sure to bring your own.
